Childcare options?
Hey,
Looking for advice - I return to work in October. This was a last minute decision as I can’t live off SMP. I have found a good nursery to get my daughter into but they are only taking her 3 days and the other two days I’m not sure what to do. Anyone been in this position? Any advice on what you did? I’ve asked HR if I can return and compress my hours but they haven’t responded to me yet. I have no other form of childcare as I live 50 miles away from my family and my on my husbands side, his mum is elderly disabled. My heart really goes out to those mums in a similar boat 🫠

I’ve just had a letter through the door letting me know there are rights new parents have to flexible working. You can go online and look at it and hopefully it should build your case for your employer

Have you considered looking for a Childminder who has space for the other two days? Or another nursery that can do the other two days?
