Should I wait to have a scan?

I really want to book in an early reassurance scan but I don’t know whether to wait. My last period was August 4th and want to book in at a 7 week scan for when I think I am 7 weeks + 1 day. But I see people finding out that they’re actually not as far along as they think they are and so they don’t find anything on the scan. I don’t think my anxiety could take that!! Should I wait til I think I’m about 8 weeks to be safe? Although I really want the reassurance of a scan now! Edit: also to add, this scan is an external ultrasound one not the internal one so I think you need to be 7 weeks for that x

You should check where your going to get it (the place I’m looking at tell you to wait until 8 weeks so different places may be different) But at what was supposed to be my 8 week scan with my first I was told about 5 weeks then later on (at a later scan) found out I would’ve been about 9 weeks

I had one yesterday at what would’ve be 6+5 and specifically booked the early reassurance scan because I was so worried. Saw little bean & a strong heartbeat❣️ I think anything around or after your assumed 7 weeks will be ok x

I went when I thought I was 6 +1, baby measured at 5 +1 instead but we were still able to see a heartbeat at that stage. Anything passed 6+ weeks should be ok 🥰

If you think you’ll struggle I’d just give it a little extra time so maybe at 8weeks. I had one which according LMP would have been around 8 weeks but I was measuring 5+ and there was no heartbeat. It was really hard cos you then have to wait at least 2 weeks between scans for a rescan. I’m either measuring small because my cycle was off or because baby stopped growing and it’s been hard waiting to know which it is.

I had one today and had my dates at exactly 6 weeks today, my dates was correct and I got to see the baby’s heartbeat (this was an internal scan) 🥰 my last period was 6th August for reference so two days after yours and a 28 day cycle x

I don't think you'll be able to see very much with an abdominal scan at that gestation. The place I go to won't even do those till 10 weeks. Having had a really lovely experience at my 8 weeks private scan with my first baby and a really horrendous one diagnosing a missed miscarriage at 8 week private scan with my second pregnancy, I would still go back again this time. It's lovely when it's all good. I personally wouldn't go before 8 weeks though - it's reassuring but means very little as it's still so early. I think it'd just be worse then if it was bad news at the 12 week scan.

I had the same thoughts as you. I’ve booked in for 3 weeks time when I’ll be exactly 9 weeks (according to my dates) the wait is a killer!! X

I have mine tomorrow, 8 weeks 1 day
