big baby & mild polyhydramnios

hello, i had an urgent scan at 30 weeks and baby was estimated to be already 4lb 10oz alongside a little over 8cm of amniotic fluid. my normal growth scan has been bought forward this week due to another episode of reduced movements - i’ll be 32+4. what’s the likelihood i’ll have this baby early - whether that be induction or early csection - if my fluid has increased again & baby is still measuring above 95th percentile? i’m so scared. when will they talk about delivering the baby? i have GD & i’m on insulin & metformin for background also

Hi! My baby is exactly the same, at 30 weeks she was 4lb8oz. Now 32 and she’s 5lb8oz and above 97th centile, I also have polyhydramnios and GD. Currently been given insulin and what I was told was if you have GD and are on metformin they induce about 39w but if you are on insulin they induce about 37-38 weeks. I have a scan next week and a consultant appointment and I’m praying they give me a date to be induced! X

@Georgie oh thank you so much for replying seems like we’re in the exact same situation! i’m just scared they’ll induce me and it will fail like it did with my firstborn, or they’ll induce me at say 37 weeks and he’s going to be like 12lb or something!! (i’m only 5ft lol!) literally panicking so much! i just want a date too! x

Honestly I’m terrified to give birth to a huge baby as well 🤣 i feel like she’s that big she could come out walking haha. I’m nervous for an induction incase it doesn’t work, I have said to my partner I might just consider a section depending on the scan next week. Fingers crossed we get one soon! X

@Georgie do you think they’re likely to give us a date this early as we’re only 32 weeks?! xx

Hey! I’m actually 36 weeks, but I’ve had a fairly similar situation to you! baby is measuring at a 38 week baby already.. so yesterday I went for my appointment, expecting to only have a consultant review as my scan was brought forward due to reduced movements at 34 weeks. And yesterday I ended up having an urgent scan and now had my induction booked for 38 weeks! she said about 39 weeks originally however, on the chart- 39 weeks would still mean little girl would be a fairly big baby! but honestly tell the consultant about your fears on having a big baby, and they’ll guide you through it!! was so helpful yesterday x

@Taylor ahh thank you so much for this comment - i hope your induction goes smoothly!! xx

I’m really hoping so! I just wanna know when she’ll likely be born 🤣 at me scan yesterday she’s measuring 37w so I’m hoping the sooner the better! Xx

@Georgie yeah at my 30 week scan baby was measuring 34 weeks!! so it will be interesting to see how much he’s grown in exactly 2 weeks time! xx

That’s been mine since 20 weeks she’s always measured 2-3 week ahead. She’s just had a big growth spurt. I can’t wait to see how much she’s out on next Friday. Just so excited for her to be here now 🤣 xx

Hey! I gave birth yesterday after diagnosis of polyhydraminos at 32 weeks. Was tested for diabetes which I didn’t have and then scanned again at 36 weeks- fluid increased slightly again but baby was only measuring slightly bigger (in comparison to 28week scan) but still on the high range with same suspected rate. Was scanned again at 39 weeks, fluid increased again but all measurements were slightly larger but had evened out as labour was soon to be imminent. I had a healthy baby girl with average weight of 8lb2oz. But there was a lot of fluid when they broke my waters! I found the whole process very scary to! But in hope you feel reassured the growth might even as you progress and babe will still be perfect xx

@Kat aww thank you so much for replying & biggest congratulations to you on your healthy baby girl! it’s so scary because it’s the unknown & you’re not in control of anything! hoping after my 32 week scan tomorrow i get told more but i fear i may be too early for them to be able to make a plan! xx
