Coombs test

Hi girls! I’m O- and my 8 week old daughter was born B+. She was under the blue light for 4 days. I had my Coombs tested last week and came out positive (I have antibodies for positive blood). Does any of you have a similar situation? Do you have a positive Coombs test? I’d love to read your experiences 🙏🏼

@Tagmayne omg what a beautiful boy! I’m so glad he’s doing great now. Thank you for sharing your experience 🫶🏼

Hi, I never had a Coombs test, however both my kids are Rh + and I’m RH -. Both my kids are preemies at 33 and 34 weeks (they are 3 years apart). They stayed in NICU for 3 weeks. My first didn’t get jaundice as much. He was under the blue lights a couple times and his bilirubin went down quickly. My 2nd kept getting jaundice every few days as my body made a lot more antibodies the second time around. However both kids are doing well. It’s definitely quite daunting to see your baby under blue lights and getting pricked every morning to see their billi number but it goes down naturally in few weeks. It also depends on their gestational age. If your baby is a preemie, jaundice may stay longer but if your daughter is full term, she should be fine and manage her bilirubin naturally within a week after birth.

@Simi thank you for sharing 🫶🏼 it’s devastating to see them under the blue light without being able to holding them. My daughter was born on week 41. Now she’s 8 weeks. On her first check up, the pediatrician suggested me to get tested for Coombs and it came out positive, so I have antibodies for RH+ now. Of course I googled (my bad) and I got really scared with the results. I’m calling my OB and pediatrician today to tell them the results and hope to have a good answer 🙏🏼
