Weight gain.

I just had my 36 week scan and I have gained 22kg. I feel disgusting. Anyone else in same boat?

I’ve gained around 16-18kg but my midwife reassured me it’s mainly baby, fluid, blood etc. I never had the sickness in the beginning so I rapidly gained weight to begin with then the last 10 kilos or so has been in the last trimester. I don’t think I’ve over eaten either I think people just gain weight differently. I’m classed as high bmi to begin with so I wasn’t “supposed” to gain very much but the body does what it wants 😂❤️

I’m at 13/14kg but absolutely nothing goes over my ass!

Oh god I'm dreading this weigh thing at that point. I might ask them to hide it all from me. Maybe not pull it through to my Badger notes too because I know it will absolutely destroy me mentally. No matter how much I reassure myself that it's baby and water and blood and breast tissue. I have a real mental block about my weight and body size I've had since I was very young so I put the scales away as soon as I found out I was pregnant and I haven't looked at them since..

@Bethan I am exactly the same. I cried my eyes out and it’s all I’ve thought about!

38 weeks this week and have gained 8kg… but I put on around 35kg with my daughter in my whole pregnancy 🤦🏼‍♀️ I didn’t realise I’d put that much weight on i felt horrible 😔

I was shocked to find out i’ve only put on 6.5kg! But everyone’s pregnancies are different and everyone carries differently! X

i’m 37 weeks tomorrow and have gained 20kg so far. don’t worry about it, as long as you and baby are happy and healthy, that’s what matters. you can always lose any extra weight after xxx

I’m just over 37 weeks and I’ve gained 20kg, I can’t believe it 🥹😂

YES I’m fking hating it I cannot wait to get this baby out and go on a diet and be me again😫😫😫

@Becca I know it's hard but keep repeating that your body has done this incredible thing. It's literally created a human being from scratch. So in the tough moments where those thoughts creep in, tell yourself that. It's what I do, sometimes over and over again. Doesn't take it away but it might help a little. Tough relationships with our bodies are not helped by pregnancy and never helped by the pressure on women!

I was a bit worried as people's comments about how big my bump is (and that it's just below 90th percentile) has been getting to me. I've put on nearly 15kg by 38 weeks (I'm not very tall, I've generally always been slim) but you need to consider what the weight is: increased breast tissue, the baby, the placenta, the amniotic sack and fluid, the extra blood volume, the fluid retention, etc etc. Even if some of it is increased fat stores, our body knows what it's doing and knows it will need this for labour and post partum, for recovery and taking care of baby. I'm convinced some of it must be a bit of extra muscle too from lugging around the baby and everything that's come with it for 9 months!

20kg here too feel yucky and just look horrible hoping most drops off when baby here
