I’d really take this with a pinch of salt because scans aren’t the most accurate and in my experience, have been wrong more often than not. I’ve also seen 10lb babies be born vaginally with no complications. Baby size is not a reason for induction in my opinion. I really wouldn’t stress about it and definitely look into the risks of induction before you make a decision. Induction increases your chance of needing a c-section by 35%, and c-section rates are already high. My friend was told her baby was 7lbs at 36 weeks so she opted to be induced 2 weeks later with an estimated 8lb weight. He was 6lbs 6 and ended up with a traumatic birth
I had a growth scan on Friday at 36+2 and they said he’s already measuring at 7lb 6! I’m already booked in for a c section at 39 weeks for other reasons but they did say to me that if I wasn’t then they wouldn’t be advising on an induction or c section just based on his size alone. And I’ve seen lots of people say how inaccurate the scans can be! xx
I had a 10lb 11oz baby naturally. I wouldn’t worry at all :)
I had 9lbs 2oz baby natural with no complications and was made to feel scared because baby was 'big'
My baby was 8lb 4oz, came naturally and did fit in newborn clothes. He was a long and slim boy x
My daughter was 9lb3 and wore newborn for the first month xxx
Induction is not recommended purely for "big baby" under the NICE guidelines. Even if he puts on an extra pound that's still not that big! The scans at this stage can also be up to 15% wrong so take the predicted weight with a pinch of salt. Have faith your body is designed to birth your baby 🩵
