What are they using to say the femur isn’t growing as it should be? Is it the percentile? From my experience at 20 weeks is the first time they measure head/body/legs(femur). They chart this onto percentiles. If they are low they will as precaution refer you so they can do another scan and compare the growth. So the 20 week scan is usually a baseline to then compare because what they need to see when it’s low is that it’s growing on its own trajectory or catching up. We had this with babies head - we’re 1st-5th percentile so had a few repeat scans to monitor growth. She was born with a perfect head. So again a lot of it’s precautionary and there is a degree of error with scans, they aren’t perfect. Also definitely could be they weren’t able to get a clear picture. What did they say? Did they say they were concerned or just that it needed monitoring?

They said they were concerned and need me to go for further tests etc but when I’ve had private scans everything’s been perfectly fine, I keep thinking is it because he was moving about non stop x

@ShannonThanks beauts!!! No I’m off to Coventry tomorrow!

Not related to the femur - but in my first pregnancy at my 20 week scan they said something was missing from my daughter’s brain & her gall bladder was in the wrong place. Was referred to fetal medicine department the next day & continued to go there every couple of weeks for the rest of my pregnancy for scans, extra tests, etc. It was such a stressful time and we really didn’t know what to expect when she was born.. Fast forward 20 more weeks and she was born completely “normal” with none of the suspected “issues” being correct 🫣 it was 20 weeks of pure stress for nothing in the end! Not saying they shouldn’t be double checking these things and referring of course, but try not to stress as I’ve heard so many stories now similar to mine and everything’s turned out fine! Hope it all goes ok 🥰

@Bethany I am hearing this sooo much! I reckon it’s because of the fact if they didn’t call out anything then people would sue them!!! Xx
