Concern?

My son’s pediatrician gives us a paper of information and what not every appointment. One thing it said on it was breastfed babies need 400 IU of vitamin D drops. I didn’t start giving him it until 4 months. Is this a concern?

No don’t worry as long as you’ve started giving it to him daily

No, some doctors don’t even recommend it at all. I stopped giving my baby the drops and supplemented the vitamin d myself. If you do high enough levels it can pass through your breastmilk to them

Your body absorbs vitamin D wayyyy better/ faster through your skin.. this is just me but I just make a lot of effort to go on walks and be outside with my little one. Never did the drops 🤷🏼‍♀️

@taryn love this for u! But keep in mind some of us had our babies in the winter lol

Never used them. Will consider taking them myself in winter but not give them to my LO

Not a concern, just start giving baby the drops now.

My pediatrician only suggested them to us because my lo was getting slightly jaundiced. The vitamin d drops helped and so did sunshine. taryn said she went on walks but if it’s too hot or cold to go on walks having baby in a sunlit room also helps get the vitamin d through the skin!

@Gabi and summer. It’s still over 110 degrees where I’m at. Being outside is never an option right now unless I go at 2 am. Which it’s still above 85

@Isabella that’s why I said you could have a baby in a sunlit room and it works 😁 I had my baby at the end of April in Arizona. It was too hot to take him on walks. I would open the windows in my room and put his bassinet in the sunlight
