Coping with a partner who works shifts

Does anyone else's partner work shifts? I absolutely dread when he's on late shifts and having to deal with evenings alone, attempting to make dinner, and trying to put our baby to bed alone is hard! I also find them really lonely and just don't know what to do and find myself just watching the clock until it's time to go to bed, I really don't like it!

I'm the same, my partner works lates as well although I'm lucky as recently he's been doing a lot more 10-6's x

Same here 😞 I hated my husband’s late and night shifts before my son was born because I felt lonely, but now I’m dreading them because I don’t know how I’ll manage to do anything! My husband went back to work two days ago and has his first late shift back on Monday so I guess I’ll report back then 😭 x

Yes! My partner works days & night shift and does 4 on and 4 off alternating between the two shifts which are really long hours (12 hours) and that’s not including travel time ether. Having a toddler on top of a newborn with him working is really tough! X

Be kind to yourself. I always used to get something from cook or a pre made healthy meal I could shove in the oven when my partner was on call or doing a long shift. Found it took the pressure off cooking. Shift work is relentless and people around you wont get it either but it does get better as they get older!

I have this with my partner. On the days he works late I try to fill the day up and in the evening if possible have someone round to keep you company / watch baby so you can eat. Be kind to yourself 🫶

Same here it’s hard to be honest
