Gestational diabetes

I got my test high to 10. And now I am 35 weeks. Is it really risky , because my friend said if you get high, you have to take insulin injections and there are chances for C-section rather than normal delivery.

I can't speak on the scores. But I had a friend who was doing AM and PM insulin injections and just gave birth naturally at 39 weeks.

Ya. I am afraid of that too. Their said , that I may deliver before my due date too. Like around 37 week . I was like completely stressed

I have GD and I'm scheduled for a section but for different reasons. Mine is diet controlled and I check my levels with a glucose monitor 4X a day. My OB is doing weekly US and NSTs from now till I have the baby to keep an eye on his size. She did say that there's a chance of early delivery if we can't control my numbers properly. My 1hr test I scored a 9.3 so I did the 2hr fasting test and I passed it so I'm not sure what the game plan is now but I'm sure I'll find out at my next appointment

@Nikki There could be chances of early delivery for sure. And probably a higher chance than those without gestational diabetes. BUT there is chances of early delivery with any pregnancy. I'm currently 34 weeks, and basically anticipate that it can happen any day lol. I've been told of two instances recently where the women didn't have gestational diabetes and one delivered 5 weeks early, and another 3 weeks early. That's just pregnancy unfortunately.

I had GD with all 5 of my pregnancy and now I currently have type 2 diabetes. I did have to take insulin once a day during my pregnancy and one with my biggest meal. But I did have all my babies naturally. They were a few weeks early due to being induced. But none were ever over weight. And after the first two babies the diabetes went away. I think u would only have to have a c-section if the baby gets too big. So I would try to change ur diet to try to get it under control.

Thanks to all 🥰. I was very worried.. I’ll start my diet plan.. I’ll consult my doctor also in deep with this .

I got a high score in both the first and second test, but managed it with diet changes and exercise only - no insulin at any point! Baby was born healthy and at 41+1 at 8.8lbs ☺️ And I just did the GD screen again with my 2nd pregnancy and don’t have it this time 🤷🏼‍♀️
