Chilminder

Hello mummies, I was using a childminder for a month while my daughter was on the waiting list of a nursery. I signed a contract for a year with 1 month of notice period. Now the nursery rang that there is a place for my daughter. If I want to have it I have to take it immediately,however I am not able to give a notice to the childminder.(I was using the gov’s code for 30h). What will happen now if I just leave? Thanks,

It'll say in your contract with the childminder. I know with mine, we had to pay x amount of weeks regardless of her being there xx

@Natalie does it mean that you would need to pay another month even though she isn’t there? Also,as I said I was using the 30h code otherwise I wouldn’t be able to afford it as a single working parent. So definitely looking at my income I can’t pay her from my pocket for another month unfortunately.

Your childcare provider will not be able to claim funding if you LO is not there, regardless of their T&Cs. I would ask them politely to end your funding contract and if they don’t, report them to your local authority. May need to pay 4 weeks notice though!

@Aps thanks!

As far as i know u will have to wait till next term u cant use ur funding hours for setting as you already using it for a childminder. I have been working for private nursery and also as nany for many years so thats how funding hours works . May be tell the nursery u already using your funding hours for childminders amd u cant take your child out now see what they say if they willing to wait … most likely they will say they cant or pay deposit dont pay any money as most nursery scares people off to make money thats my advice. May be see few more for next terms… which is in January
