Prenatals?

Has anyone made the decision to not take prenatal vitamins during their pregnancy? I stopped for a while bc i was throwing up after taking them and I felt like it defeated the purpose of me eating. Now when i take the gummies it’s just difficult i hate the way they taste and they don’t sit well with my stomach. I have 2 different brands, I’ve been on the lookout for a new one but for the time being I’ve just been eating the best I can.

Hey, I’ve really struggled with prenatals too, made me gag and throw up. I tried so many pills and gummies, and they’ve all been gross. But now I’m taking the Bird&Bee gummies and I find them delicious, they taste like fuzzy peaches. They don’t have iron in them, so they’re more gentle on the tummy too. It does mean I’m going to have to start supplementing with iron separately though. But when I was struggling to take my pills, I tried to at least take folic acid as the bare minimum. My midwife said it was fine, especially in the first trimester when it was just about survival.

@Sel thanks so much for sharing, I’ll look into bird & bee !

My doctors said as long as my labs stay normal I only need to take folic acid

I started the brand Olly after the ones I was previously taking made me super sick. They taste really good and they haven’t made me sick at all.

Take something with lemon or ginger base gummies …

I couldn’t hold them down with my last pregnancy, and same the second time around. I stopped taking them a couple weeks into my first and everything was fine. Haven’t taken them since my 8th week this time, and I’m 20 weeks now. Honestly as long as you eat good and get the vitamins from somewhere you’ll be fine.

@Victoria olly is hard for me rn 😭

They gross me out too… I also have just been taking high dose folic acid

I’ve actually just started to take seamoss to get my vitamins instead. I was able to find a seamoss in a smoothie type mixture that tastes really good so I’m taking that and iron since I’m anemic

I have a hard time holding down any vitamins while pregnant. This is my 4th go around and I take them half the time honestly. If I feel i can stomach them that day I take them. With my first I had HG and could never keep them down. I've found the Hello Bello gummies are easy to eat though.

Yup. I tried many different types (pills, gummies, brands etc.) and between the horrible smell and taste / tummy ache they all left me with I just wanted to be done with them. My midwife agreed it was better for me to feel better than to keep taking them, so I stopped taking them around 12 weeks and have never looked back and everything has been great. I am just about 37 weeks with a happy healthy bouncy growing baby and a happy healthy me!

@Amanda thank you for sharing 🥹

Hey girl 🤍 I struggled taking mines as well because they made me feel sick but I started taking them at night and noticed a big difference! I hate taking them still cause they’re big but I feel a lot better when I do take them.

@Tiffany I ended up switching over to Root’d in the very beginning and it’s a prenatal vitamin that you drink and I didn’t have any issues with that one it is a little more expensive compared to other brands but their website is very informative about each vitamin that they use. Also I found if you order them through Hive they are cheaper lol. Hopefully this helps

@Brittany how does it taste tho 🥴

I was taking prenatal for about a week before I got pregnant, I found out I was pregnant and I just kept forgetting to take them so I don’t take them. I go to each ultrasound and my baby girl is doing amazing

@Tiffany being so honest the flavor says its lemon-berry and I was expecting it to taste like a lemonade so I was a little thrown off when it didn’t lol but it’s carbonated so I not sure if that helped. But you can also mix it in any drink or smoothie I do believe

I just started taking Tend prenatal bars! They’re a little pricey but I can actually eat them, and they’re packed with nutrients. I’d recommend trying those out!

@Marlena i love this possibility thank you so much!!
