Nursery ofsted

So I love my little boys nursery it seems great however I have just looked up the ofsted report which was done in July and it ' requires inprovement' this obviously has me concerned. I've never had any personal concerns about my son attending but now I'm a little worried would you look for a new nursery

I would read the more detailed guidance and see how it relates to your son. It could be linked to a difference room/age. If you are still concerned, I would book an appointment to speak to the manager. It could be that some of the issues ofsted have picked up have already been addressed!

@Victoria thanks Victoria xx

My daughters preschool failed ofsted and it was a lovely setting and the staff really cared however it was based on the previous manager and something that happened to a child at home they had conflicting advice about from memory. As someone said read it and make your own judgement. The nursery will be looking at fixing that otherwise the LA will withhold funding.

Agree with Victoria, read the full report to understand what the areas of concern are and arrange a chat with staff/management if you feel you need more clarity or want reassurance- I’m a little surprised you as parents weren’t notified of the outcome already, or are you a new parent? Ofsted is a snapshot, it was one or two days insight and you have to take some of it with a pinch of salt. However, things like safeguarding being ineffective would be enough for me to consider looking for alternative provision. It really does just depend on what they saw and have criticised, and what response the nursery will have.

Read the report and look at which bits were requires improvement. Any safeguarding related things would be highly concerning. I am a teacher and Ofsted gradings are not everything they're cracked up to be.

I work in childcare myself and I strongly believe half the time an Ofsted report doesn’t reflect how good a nursery is! Ofsted will literally mark you down on the smallest of things now. So I would definitely read the report and see what they have marked it down for x
