Childminder or nursery?

Sorting childcare out for baby #2 for when they are around 18-24 months. My mum is looking after him when he turns one until he goes to formal childcare. I’m looking into a childminder rather than nursery - has anyone had a childminder look after their kids? Is 18-24 months appropriate or would this age be better suited for nursery? Any pros or cons? Thanks!

My little one has been with a childminder since 13 months (she’s now 3y2m) We wouldn’t do anything else tbh it was defo the right choice for us :)

@Amy I wish I’d done it with my July 2021 baby but I wasn’t organised enough when she was little!! She’s starting pre-school next week and I know a childminder would’ve been a much better fit for her 😢 so getting organised this time (although baby #2 seems to have a different temperament so far…)

My July 2021 went to a childminder up until 3 (we live in wales so start mornings in school earlier here). It was definitely the right choice for us. She moved childminder at 13/14 months as we moved and coped well with that change. It was definitely a good fit and have already asked the previous childminder for my march 24 baby to go to her

My little one is with a childminder and will stay with her up until school. I moved him out of nursery to go there as I found the attention my son recieved in nursery wasn't very good with his ezcema an allergies! She is literally the best an Arlo fully loves her. My 2nd will be going there too. Home from home!
