Half term & no childcare

What do you do? My partner does shift work and I work mon - fri. His shifts rotate 8weekly so no.week is the same I.e. no consistency. My worry is the school holidays when they go next year. His annual leave dates are already allocated to him which won't always cover half term. My AL alone won't be enough. I don't drive and I'm worried about how I'd get to the holiday clubs etc when I need them. Don't have any family support nearby reslly. How do I find out about where the clubs are and is there often waiting list for them?

Facebook groups usually have info on these. We have a childcare group where we live and people generally talk about half term holiday clubs...worth a look. I booked a holiday club for Feb half term '25🙀 so generally they fill up quickly

What about a childminder? A lot of them will have space in the half terms etc cos of term time only children, it might be worth contacting someone now and letting them know you might need help and get little one in to meet them! Xx

I second a childminder or your current nursery if they offer a holiday club! But honestly this is why I put my aspirations of working in accountancy on hold and retrained to be a teaching assistant to have the school holidays off to minimise childcare in the holidays :(

Holiday clubs often advertise on local facebook groups. The ones for October are booking up now.

@Kierrah our local holiday club has started booking for Feb half term 🤦‍♀️
