Chicken that's "cleaned" or soaked in vinegar is actually disgusting

It changes the taste and texture of the chicken and it's gross. My MIL does this and I just can't eat the chicken she does it to, the texture of the meat is awful afterwards.

Soaked in vinegar? Not heard that one but surely it breaks the tissue down?

My partner soaks his in vinegar too. I agree šŸ„² I try really hard to prep and marinade the chicken before my partner starts cooking it but sometimes he says heā€™s gonna do it all by himself šŸ„²

Not this weird shit again.

@Sarah Exactly, it like starts to cook the chicken and changes the texture completely.

@Parker 又 My MIL thinks she's being nice by "cleaning" the chicken for me before I cook it but I always end up cutting so much of it off because it's rubbery and stringy and I can't stand it.

@ZainabšŸ—ļø You can just move on if you think the topic is weird. You don't have to comment on every post you see if you have nothing to add to the conversation.

If you use a meat tenderizer mallet it does help bring back some of its life! Even after itā€™s been vinegared lolol

For sure. Iā€™m probably not eating at someoneā€™s house who washes their meat.

You donā€™t have to add anything to comment. Welcome to the internet you racist weirdo.

Iā€™m not understanding why your upset at @ZainabšŸ—ļø sheā€™s on your team; washing chicken is fucking weird & unnecessary LOL there was a post about washing chicken literally last week, so she was just saying ā€œhere we go againā€

@Parker 又 this post is a racist dog whistle. Washing meat is fine. This post is weird and someone keeps posting about it over and over again because they know that the majority of people who clean their meat arenā€™t white.

@ZainabšŸ—ļø ahhhhhhh I see, I see. Yeah I didnā€™t really even register that cause like I donā€™t think like that HAHAHA my ocd is what makes me hate washing chicken in particular. Cause like the thought of the juices in my sink fucks me up real good.

@Parker 又 they post it like this because they canā€™t say ā€œhey people agree with me that non white people and their food is disgustingā€.

@ZainabšŸ—ļø No one said anything about race, you're the weird one for trying to make it about race. You comment on everything with nothing to add, you just like the attention. Make your own post if you want attention so badly.

@Parker 又 Honestly she annoys me, she usually has nothing to add to posts and just comments to comment. I didn't mention race because it has nothing to do with race.

You didnā€™t have to, you know what youā€™re doing and you posted incognito so that when you get called out you can deny it and pretend to be a victim. Thatā€™s what people who use dog whistles and micro aggressions do.

@Parker 又 as someone whoā€™s taken all the biohazard cleaning training for my business, I just canā€™t trust anyone who washes their meat that they disinfected their kitchen properly afterwards. Itā€™s something like 7 out of 10 kitchens where meat is washed still had harmful bacteria found in key areas where the food is prepared. When I eat at other peoples houses Iā€™m usually the one cooking (most of my friends donā€™t cook šŸ˜†) anyways or itā€™s premade Costco meals šŸ˜‚šŸ˜‚šŸ˜‚šŸ˜‚and I disinfect the kitchen properly before I start cooking.

If you didnā€™t intend for something to be a dog whistle you would delete it but youā€™re leaving it up because the intent was to be nasty and now you know if you block me everyone else will still see my comments and maybe think twice. So you have to paint me as a nut.

@ZainabšŸ—ļø Blah Blah Blah Go look for attention somewhere else

The post seemed innocent to me, because it specifically spoke about one meat & how its texture changes after itā€™s soaked in vinegar. ā€œChickens texture changes after itā€™s soaked raw in vinegarā€ is a statement I do truthfully agree with on a factual level; but I also do know Zainab is right the topic of washing meat in general is a dog whistle for most people who have the conversation. I do know the statistics that back what zainab is saying. It wasnā€™t immediately how i interpreted this post, but i can entirely see how it coulda been intended or interpreted that way. Especially because in the last 2 months thereā€™s been like 6 posts about washing meat. & the comments have not been a nice place. And if you donā€™t understand why everything ends up being about race, itā€™s because unfortunately racism is what everything in life is built on. Itā€™s ok to have not known, but telling others theyā€™re wrong when they call you out on something that can be considered a mirco aggression is silly.

šŸ¤£šŸ¤£šŸ¤£šŸ¤£ typical

@SquishyMommy1 It's one of the reasons I don't like eating at anyone's house unless I'm preping, cooking, and cleaning. I took sanitation courses in college and fully believe most people don't know how to clean and disinfect a kitchen properly.

@Parker 又 It was a totally innocent post because my MIL literally had just done it and I was a bit annoyed. Has nothing to do with race.

I hear ya, your intend had nothing to do with race, but zainab has now brought it to your attention that not everyone shares your sentiment as innocently as you do. I donā€™t believe you need to delete the post, but educating yourself on what @ZainabšŸ—ļø is saying, instead of just telling her that ā€œrace has nothing to do with thisā€ is the move. Because maybe race had nothing to do with your personal intent ; but this comments section could become a breeding ground for racism & hate; even if you were not intending anything by the initial post. The topic of meat washing is inherently a dog whistle for racism to signal off below it. Again the specific-ness of the type of meat & what about it is seeming different after the ~cleaning~ made me interpret this post innocently because I completely understand the texture change your talking about; but other people exist, not only who you agree with. & their opinions do matter just as much as yours does. Living in an echo chamber is not healthy.

@Parker 又 they know and they say I want attention but here they are posting a popular argumentthat causes tensions and exposes peoples not so nice sides. Just so they can toot their own horn about how clean they claim to be without washing. No need to stick up for me. I knew exactly what they were going to do, step by step.

@ZainabšŸ—ļø itā€™s not even just for you dude, genuinely I get sick of them playing dumb too. And Iā€™ve got time to break it down, my sense of justice says letā€™s prove itā€™s willful ignorance. šŸ«¶šŸ¼ by educating people to the best of my humble ability.

@ZainabšŸ—ļø If you need to see everything as a race issue thats on you. Not everyone lives in North America and not everyone thinks about race as soon as someone says something about anything really. Everything is racist in some way to someone. Go make your own post to complain about things being racist. You do want the attention, I see you comment on almost every post, often with nothing to add to the conversation, just commenting so you can be included even when no one is talking to you.

Incog you know you can block people you donā€™t enjoy seeing or interacting with right? You can also mute words on here too. Super nifty features on social media apps now a days to help protect your bubble you decide to live in.

Share my comments. drop the screen shots.

@ZainabšŸ—ļø I don't take screenshots of people's comments on here, that's a weird thing to do. Usually I just ignore you and move on with my day because you don't make a difference in my life. I just roll my eyes whenever I see your face pop up in the comments of a post and think "of course she's commented on this"

Sounds like Iā€™m in your head. šŸ˜˜

@Parker 又 I usually just ignore her, but she chose to comment on my post for no reason other than to comment on something.

@ZainabšŸ—ļø Nope just in the comments of my post for no reason. Have to make something about yourself today huh?

Ok but if youā€™re so bothered, especially today, on your own post, just block her? Then you donā€™t ever have to roll your eyes at seeing her comments again?

@Parker 又 Meh, not that bothered tbh. You know it's like living next to a yappy dog, it's annoying to hear the yapping all the time but not annoying enough to actually go out of your way to do something about.

You seemed bothered, but lol mkay. Have fun with that then.

I donā€™t get the point because when youā€™re cooking it on high heat it kills the bacteria anyway. It makes sense to clean your produce because youā€™re not necessarily cooking that.
