Are you eligible for universal credit towards childcare? Have you tried applying? Also are you using the tax free childcare for the paid hours? I’m not really sure what to advise, I have a friend that worked evenings in a restaurant round her partner for the same reason.

Look into tax free childcare. £400 left is better than most. You need to weigh up the financial and personal benefits for your family. Is it worth going back to work? I know you work there so there's a bonus to that but have you considered a childminder or alternatively nursery you could possibly find somewhere more cost effective.

Try looking at different nurseries. Ours cost us about £300 extra with free hours for 2 days but I know others don’t charge much if anything! I don’t understand how or why there is such a difference.

Thanks I have decided to not go back to work maybe till he's 2.i also been struggling emotionally him going back. Feel like as he's my first I need little more time with him.Now my co worker making me feel bad for my choice. Saying instead of emailing my manger I should of gone to speak to her about my feelings but nothing she can do to help me I don't feel ready for him to start nursery. I also think she's jealous cause of my choice she didn't won't to go back either.my husband doesn't earn another so we will need to use universal credit to help top up should be another till he's 2 or I'll look at different childcare settings and find part time work
