Don’t have nursery set up yet

Getting very anxious about getting the nursery set up but can’t do anything yet as we have to redo flooring in the house after flooding from a storm, any suggestions on what I can work on in the meantime time to feel like I’m still getting ready for baby to be here?

You can get a baby lounger so if your baby is here before the floor is done you can cosleep together but I’d say to get on top of the flooring asap! Baby’s don’t need much to be honest. Just diapers, wipes, bottles, foods and some pjs if you need to have the minimum but the flooring situation is just temporary so don’t worry!

Sorry to hear about the flooding incident. Hope that gets settled soon! I would recommend thinking about the essentials (where will baby sleep (bassinet)?, how will baby eat? (breastfeeding/bottles), DIAPERS and WIPES, stroller/car seat)…

It’s my first baby but we’re moving shortly after baby is born so not getting her nursery together at this house. We’re just doing a bassinet in our room and some organization drawers for diapers, wipers, sleepers etc but not overly stressing since babies don’t need a ton early on

We have lots of things for the nursery and baby just can’t set them up yet and are basically in storage with there being no room to set up right now 😩 I’m such an over preparer and so stressed I can’t get everything organized yet 😭

We have a bassinet ready for baby, we don’t plan to have him sleep in his nursery for the first few months so we aren’t rushing to get nursery done. We also have a pack and play for downstairs for baby to nap in during the day and it has a little changing table. Do you have something like that? Maybe it would help ease stress to know you have a changing area and sleeping area setup? 🤞

We do have a changing table bassinet crib and all but with my husbands schedule it kinda works better for me as a sahm to kinda just move into the nursery with baby so he still gets sleep, no sense in us both being up all night and I would sleep when he was home during part of the day just keeping fingers crossed everything gets done soon! Thank you everyone for suggestions!

If you plan on painting you can do that or hang up any pictures/decorations :) it’s best to paint before flooring anyway then you don’t have to worry about it dripping on the new floor. If you have clothes that need to be hung up you should be able to do that since that shouldn’t be in the way of the flooring installation. If you have bottles and such you can clean/sterilize them and set up a place for them to go

Honestly, my son is 2 and his room has been set up pretty much since he’s been born. He still sleeps in our room. Working to get him in there before new baby comes. We have zero set up for new baby as I know they’ll be with us for a while. Don’t stress. Get a bassinet and find a space near your bed for it. You’ll be all set until you can get their space finished.

We don’t have anything set up either and I’m due the first week of December 🤦‍♀️(relatives moved with us to help out which is great but it means we are 4 soon to be technically 5 ppl in a small two bedroom and there’s barely room for our own stuff … we’re doing some renovations before we move the bigger things in .. but we haven’t even decided on a sidecar sleeper, some kind of save baby specific surface for cosleeping or a grow with me crib 🫣it’s also complicated bc we’re trying to use what’s available thru insurance & vouchers etc but it’s been so confusing & honestly I’ve been so exhausted from just ob chaos we’ve been going thru & moving house in the first/second trimester that I’ve not been on top of calling all the places I need to to double check - plus some of it is insane like you get. A voucher for a car seat or stroller From ny state but need to have given birth already but you can’t go home without one so 🤦‍♀️

@Lesya make sure to check second hand baby stores like once upon a child and Facebook market! You may be able to find some of the things you are looking for at a more affordable price!

@Tara thanks 🙏 you’re right that might be easier than waiting on insurance

My first baby didn’t spend much time in his room for the first couple months (we coslept/ used bassinet beside bed) after a few months we even just did tummy time in his room and he still slept with me. At first I only used it to sit in the rocking chair to feeding him when we had people over
