Universal Credit

How much is everyone getting from UC (and your circumstances if you don’t mind sharing, childs age, working, where you’re living ect) as I’m trying to understand them better! I haven’t got my first check yet, I’m 36 weeks, living with my parents without my partner and not sure how much to expect. How much does it go up when baby is here? What’s the difference between child benefit and UC? All so confusing 🥲

It will tell you how much you’re going to get if you go onto your uc account and request an advance payment (basically loan to see you through till your first payment) then it will tell you the amount you can borrow up to and that amount is usually the amount you will be paid monthly x

@Tink I had no idea, thank you!!

You get child benefit each week of a certain amount and universal credit goes up aswell like for me I earn around 290 pounds extra a month for having 1 child and she is nearly 3 weeks

@Charlotte how much do you get of child benefit?

I get £25.60 a week I think

Everyone is entitled to child benefit regardless of your income but not everyone is entitled to UC. UC is dependent on your earnings if you work but also any benefits you receive

There is guidance on the universal credit page about how much you will get

https://www.gov.uk/universal-credit/what-youll-get

Going entitled to website and it will tell you

My partner earns just enough that we won't get anything despite my mat leave being unpaid. He earns around the 45k mark and we have some money in investments from an old inheritance which, while we dont touch it, takes us over the savings limit. We will get child benefit, one of each rate for our twins and will claim that once they are born. We are in Kent and I'm due in December

If you look on entitled to.com that will give you the amount of any benefits like UC and child benefits you would be able to claim
