Taking time off nursery, are you charged?

Hello, I’ve just enrolled my 2 and 1 year old in a nursery where there are monthly invoices payable by the 1st of the month. They only attend 2 mornings a week (10 hours) and currently term time only. We are planning a family holiday to visit my husbands family abroad and with the travelling time we want to make the most of it and will probably look at going for 3-4 weeks. Does anyone know that with plenty of notice of course if I didn’t want to send my children in for a whole month would I still be charged at their normal rate for the month? Or pay a reduced amount for their loss etc? Or can I just opt out for that month? I know it probably depends on their policies which I’m not yet familiar with but wondered if anyone had similar experience. Thanks!

Mine still charges

Mine charges half the rate if you give enough notice, that way you keep their place open. Was it not written in your sign up pack when you enrolled? Ours was in the policies bit of the sign up pack

Yes most will still charge x

Mines changed in full

Yeah we get charged, it keeps there space at our nursery which has a massive waiting list.

@Nikki only thing I remember was a policy on absences during months which have already been paid for! Will have another look at the small print! Thank you ☺️

Thank you ladies! X

Mine still charge full price x

Mine would charge full price! Even on bank holidays when they’re shut x

Mine charges for holidays but I did take my son out for 3 months for a trip and they didn't charge us for that time. If depends on the nursery.

Yes they do as the need to keep your place open for you to come back to sa I know most do charge if your absent but it might depend if it's a long period time

Yes we’re still charged because it’s set days in the contract they can’t offer the days to anyone else but still have to pay the staff. Were going away soon and had to pay for my boys nursery even though he’s not going to be there and i told them before he even started nursery

Mine will charge full price for any absence

Yup. Unfortunately so. Still charged for holidays here. We gave 7 months notice for our little ones holiday. He went away for 3 weeks with his grandmother to see family in Cyprus.

If they are set days then you will be charged for them the same as if little ones poorly

You will be charged for those days, as they will not be able to fill those spaces on those days, so they would lose money if they didn't charge you.

If you still want the place when you come back they will still charge you. Otherwise that’s a long time and they will give your place to someone in the waiting list

Mine has a 4 session holiday entitlement that I don't get charged for. That's two weeks for us because mine are only in 2 mornings a week as well. Better to ask the nursery where you stand, they'll all be different

Full price

@Lauren oh that’s a good set up! I’ll be asking at pick up today, fingers crossed! I’m just glad they aren’t in full time as that would be a very expensive holiday 😅

Yea they still charge you :(

Mine charge full amount

Yeah mine still charge x

You have to pay the day rate or loose place.
