Returning to work 🥺

Has anyone been to look at nurseries yet? How many days are you planning to go back? Anyone planning to WFH, and childcare on the odd occasion? What are your thoughts regarding Fees? With the funding is it that those eligible would get 15 hours funding from March, and then in September 2025 it should change to the 30 hours funding? x

We’ve paid £600 already towards our nursery for registration and accepting place. I’m going back compressed hours so full time hours 4 days a week to save on fees. The nursery have a list of their fees and the discount off the funding. I definitely feel grateful for the new funding introduced. Xx

We’ve registered for a term time nursery place from September 2025, as my husband is a teacher. I’m hoping to go back 4 days per week so with the new funding, will hopefully just need to pay 1 day nursery per week.

I am going back in January 3 and half days but my friend is having my little girl for 3/4 hours one day so she will only be going in 2 and half day a week hopefully my fees are not too much come April with funding hours xx

I’ve got my little one’s name down at the nursery where his big brother goes. You’re right about the funding but there are some finer details to it. You’re eligible for the 15 hours from the term after they turn 9 months (so should be from April for our June babies) but I think it also has to be after you’ve returned to work - worth clarifying. I usually work from home 2 days a week and in the office 2 days. I would say it’s really hard to work from home with your child there if you don’t have anyone else there watching them with you. It might depend what your job is but I’ve had to do it on the odd occasion where my eldest was poorly and couldn’t go to nursery. When they’re on the move, chatting etc it’s very hard to get stuff done 🙈

I put my son's name down at a nursery shortly after he was born. Depending on when you're going back, I wouldn't leave it too late to get a nursery sorted. Some round me were already fully booked until September 2025 when I booked due to the new funding. The 15 hours will kick in the term after they turn 9 months so 1 April and then 30 hours from the September

I wfh already, so decided to have a child whilst I was in a wfh job.
