Folic acid

I didn’t take folic acid as I found out I was pregnancy after 12 weeks so missed the window. My scans are all showing as good / no abnormalities so I wasn’t worried. But I keep hearing people say how important it is to take as if it’s guaranteed something bad will happen if you don’t !! Now I can’t stop thinking thay something terrible is going to happen as I didn’t take it . Has anyone else not taken folic acid during pregnancy before

Don’t be worried at all. A lot of people don’t take it. There are countless of people who didn’t know they was pregnant until a lot further on! Until they are ready to give birth or are giving birth! There are worse things you can do than not take folic acid x

i didn’t take through mine because of bad hg. i have a healthy toddler xx

Agree with @Haila !

Maybe ask if its too late to try, if its something you want. I'm 26 weeks and still take it ( I have medical condition) x

I still take the pregnacare vitamins as I kinda think if any part of my baby isn’t fully cooked (I’m 39 weeks) then the nutrients from them will only help. It’s not like things stop developing after a certain number of weeks so worth a try but your baby will be ok am sure of it

Every time I heard stuff like that it would freak me out until someone reminded me, we have been having kids for centuries and we didn't always have the things that we do now. If you're taking a multivitamin or a pregnancy vitamin now it has it all in it and honestly, you'll be fine. I was deficient in folic acid during my first 12 weeks even though I was taking it & my LG is fine. Remember your body has these vitamins in them and it'll take yours and give it to baby

You’ll be fine. I was prescribed them but only took them on and off. Almost never due to HG I’ve had a healthy baby x Don’t worry yourself sick

Nope don't worry about it. It's to help with the neural tube forming which is fully formed by 12 weeks and if there's no issues then yay! My mum had 3 healthy babies. It wasn't a thing when she was pregnant, even 20 years ago (the age of my youngest sister) so she took nothing. No problems at all. Folic acid not really a huge requirement after 12 weeks and mine made me sick so towards the end I couldn't cope and barely took them. After that I focused on iron supplements, now vitamin d, iron and magnesium!
