@Grace ? x

Over the next couple of terms primary schools will be having lots of tours! Contact ones you're interested in over the next few weeks and have a look.

@Sarah amazing thankyou :) x

Yep :) look out for “open days”

Yes the open days are usually October/November time

I would view before you apply. I have just contacted schools and booked in for start of October

I didn’t with my eldest because I wanted him to go my old primary Having gone through that I now have a list of questions so I’m planning to visit a few :) None near me really do open days so we will be arranging visits x

@Amy what kind of questions will you ask? i'm new to this all x

Yes, we did do visits as my daughter has food allergies so wanted to know how they would manage them. we talked to the staff and got a sense for if they had values we had, approaches to children etc. We chose a smaller school as my daughter is a competent child but is very reserved until she feels comfortable, so a big school wouldn't suit her, she only had 15 in her class. As some of the places weren't big they didn't do open days, so i just called to book a private visit when the school is open.

@Shannon how free flowing their early years classroom is How much time outside they have How structured the day is (across all key stages) Does continual provision stop at reception or continue If a child is showing challenging behaviour how will they handle that If a child is presenting with additional needs how do they support with that What their reasonable adjustments are for a SEND child How high their turnover of staff is What extra curricular activities they offer and if they’re open to reception Wrap around care and how easy that is to access Homework policy Bullying policy and how effective it is

@Amy thankyou, i'm definitely going to take this into account when i view the schools! xx
