How many nurses did you have during birth?

I want to make little thank you gifts for the nurses that will help during birth but I’m not sure how many to expect? How many nurses did you have?

I would make a big gift basket for all the nurses to share. If your hospital has a separate labor and delivery and postpartum, make one for each. Typically during the actual birth you’ll have 1 to 2 nurses. And then they switch out every 12 hours, so super dependent if you go in for a induction, c/s, or natural labor. The time you’ll be at the hospital will vary widely.

Yeah, it really depends on how long you are there since they work in shifts.

Typically it’s 1-2

It also depends how busy they are. My labor was about 28 hours (induction so I was ther for about 3 hours before we started also due to the how busy they were) and I had 6 different nurses because they kept getting pulled and switched. A big shareable gift is nice if you want to take something the day of. I had my husband keep track of their names in his phone and sent a thank you card to them after with a Starbucks gift card.

I'm a nurse, I'm planning on just doing two shareable gift baskets (one for day shift and one for night shift because the night shift nurses are ALWAYS overlooked) because how many individual nurses you have is going to be so variable just based on the time you get admitted/how long your labor is and also how long you're on post partum.

My first I had 4 and the neonatal lady. I was induced and had GBS so I’m sure that’s probably why I had more. My second was an easier and nothing out of the ordinary it was just 2 nurses and the doctor

Uhm my first I had probably at least 13 medical staff (induced/emergency) but my second which was quick and smooth I had 2 and an ob who came to sign everything off 👍🏼

My boy was born at 27+1 in a hospital that normally doesn't deliver before 32 weeks, the room was FULL of drs, nurses, specialists etc. Legit over 20 people. 😅😅 then we spent 2 months in 4 different hospitals in NICU

1 during labor and a postpartum nurse. Made a gift basket for each. Gave them both a small potted plant, baby-safe sunscreen (I live in hot climate), bath and shower bombs, tea, scented candles, and a little pouch with overnight mini toiletries for a weekend getaway.

After being on the ward for 2mths I had an emergency section and there were over 20 in the room. Following that baby was in NICU and I was re-admitted too after discharge - there's no way you could organise individual presents and thank yous for that!!

I had at least 5 in the room during a scheduled c-section. I sent them and the docs thank you cards in the mail a month after the birth with a picture of the baby, some of them collect those.

I had two primaries but then like 4 more came in for the actual birth. Then about 4 in the mother baby ward. Gifts aren't expected so if you're unsure a gift for labor and deliver and then postpartum for day and night shift is a great idea!

I had my main midwife and a student midwife :) and because I was high risk I did have a consultant. I then had an emergency c section with a different doctor to the consultant who had been there at night because I was cut open by day team

So honestly when I started pushing there was only one dr a resident and one nurse when I opened my eyes when my daughter came out I honestly couldn't count how many people were in my room. All of a sudden I see a guy on my right examining my daughter while she was on me and talking to her while I was in awe my daughter was holding her head up looking at me within seconds of breathing life. I asked my husband and he said be couldn't remember either. So I'm making 20. I know there wasn't 20 in there but o know there were several different nurses and drs throughout the few days we were there. They thought she had a heart murmur so there was alot of people who handled her.
