Free childcare question

My husband works, I don’t. My daughter turns 3 in December. Will we qualify for 15 free hours government funded? Despite me not working. I know we won’t get the 30 free hours as that’s for working parents only but can someone clarify for me? Also when do I apply? Or do I just talk to the pre school that she’s at they automatically swap her over to funded hours rather than us paying So confused

Yes all 3 year olds have 15 hours. You have to create a childcare account on government website and give the code you get to your childcare provider x

Best bet is to look at your EY Portal on the childcare choices website! I emailed my local branch of those, querying it and they literally did everything for me as I was so confused! I had my childcare code within days

@Amelia thank you, how soon can I apply for this? Her birthday is late December- so she’d be eligible for the free hours from the January term… x

@Monica Sweeney did you have to pay for them to do it all?? That would be ideal as I’m clueless

https://childcare-support.tax.service.gov.uk/par/app/trialmessage You have to apply here x

@Amelia I tried this, says I’m not eligible for the working hours (as I don’t work) but says to talk to pre school about the hours. I thought I needed a code x

@Hannah no! Completely free service and was super helpful! I went to copy you the email I used, but I’m Stockport based so my EY portal query email will be different to yours as it goes by location. They’ll help do it all for you
