Nursery stress?!

FTM here and have just started reaching out to nurseries for our LG to start in Jan 2025. Had no idea how busy / booked up they get but am finding a lot of them already full and starting to get v worried about not getting anything before I must return to work. Hoping for some kind of reassuring words please!

What area are you in?

@Hannah Worsley

Can you look at childminders?

@Rosie I wouldn’t know how to even go about this?

Have a look childcare.co.uk x

@Rosie thanl you so much !

My LO went to kids planet Walkden and then the higher Broughton one and he thrived in both

@Shae I’ve tried kids planet but they’re totally booked up already 🤷🏼‍♀️

Some of the local nurseries are even booked up until 2026! I had no idea it was as difficult as this which is giving me s bit of mum guilt cus maybe I should’ve known??

The council put me in worsley and within a month I had got my son a place at nursery, when he switched over to higher Broughton they had loads of places but only on specific days. Are you asking them if they just have space or I they have space full time? Maybe ask them if they have mornings twice a week and then go from there? Sorry it’s not much help

@Shae thanks for this advice. We are asking currently for three days a week

Kids planet worsley But also I think the reason why they r all booked up is A) new funding ie 15 hrs encouraging more ppl to put their kids in nursery that would not otherwise do B) the timing (most are full at start of term time ie now Sept) Some may leave/ drop out/ decide it isn’t the right fit Also there are Best Friends, Holly house, Bright Horizons (Astley) etc Fingers crossed for you If not try childminders

Thank you @Stef really helpful advice. I think you’re right about the funding for sure !!
