Nursery

How did your little ones settle in nursery, my little one was meant to start on Monday 8-1 and every time we taken him we are having a phone call within half an hour to come and pick him up as he’s screaming and crying and just won’t settle. Any tips to try and help me get him to settle

Do they not do settle in days ? Where they go for 30 mins then an hour. Then two hours ? Maybe advise they try this. Also he may just need you stay with him for a little bit then slowly fade away let him get on with it and then leave.

So my little one has been going since he was a baby. If he’s never had time away from you before it’s going to be a big scary adjustment for him. How many days will he be doing? I think there’s a few things 1) ask the nursery to persist, he will eventually settle in. As horrible as it is. Half a hour is sometimes not long enough to settle a new child. Sometimes it’s about a singular staff member taking him off you, settling him in and persisting and forming a good bond. He will realise you are coming back once it’s something that happens regularly. But also he will learn that if he screams and they call you after 30 minutes then he will continue to do so because it’s how he gets mummy back. 2) it could be the setting sometimes the problem is that it’s too a big room for the child and being with lots of other children can be overwhelming. A smaller setting or a childi minder may be more appropriate. Sending you love mum! X

This is the worst my little one done settling in sessions… was absolutely fine. Today had his first 3 hour day and when I turned up I could hear him crying mummy mummy! At the top of his voice and he hadn’t even seen me 😩 I opened the door and he was just having a mental break down on the floor and had been ther for 15 minutes apparently. It was absolutely heart breaking 😭 he’s back in Friday which is an even longer day and I’m dreading it. They have said they will call if he continues too long. Luckily im on mat leave so can go grab him but im back to work soon 🥴 hoping it gets better 🤞🏼 wishing you all the luck but think we may have to persevere 🫠

Thank you all, I asked if they could try and leave it longer than half an hour to see if he’s settle and it’s worked he cry’s when I drop him off but doesnt last very long and. the last couple of days he’s manage to do 8-1

Oh, my boy starts on the 16th! I really hope he takes it well...
