How do you manage to work and be a mom?

I have a 3 year old and I’ll start working again, being in only one income is hard so I applied for a job and got hired, right when I got hired my husband company closed and he is currently unemployed but also looking for a job. I don’t know how to manage all that, until he finds a job he will stay with our daughter but once he gets hired we both will need to work. I’m so scared , it’s so hard, we are going to need to find a daycare and leave our daughter there all day, but I’m honestly clueless about all that, we were trying to homeschool but the conditions and economy changed so we can’t have that privilege. Any advice, how do you guys do it? We have no relatives or people we trust our daughter with nearby.

Look into govt programs In your area. Every state has something for parents where childcare is subsidized based on your income. I've been privileged to have organizations assist me with my son as he's getting older. I am still a single mom but as he goes to 1st grade, it seems easier compared to when he was 3.

I work days my husband works nights. The schedule isn't a complete match so 2 days a week for a few hours we have our mutual close friend watch our son. She's our only nearby support person. When our son was smaller He went to the pre-k I worked at. Prior to that I worked from home with our son all day. A way was always found. My husband and spend a few days together every week. Yes we'd like more time but what's most important is our Son is okay and has everything he needs. That is how so many marriages work you pass like two ships in the night for a while and then the kids are in school a bit more self sufficient and you 2 have time together again. It can work you just need to find people or a place you trust to care for your child. As of how you determine that that's a whole diffrent conversation that I'll gladly talk with any mom for hours about.

The issue with daycare in nyc is that unless you make x amount over the cost of day care then you will always have two parents working on one income, I haven’t found anything cheaper then $3200, a month and don’t qualify for child care assistance but I only make just above the income limit. Could drop the baby off at a private house situation but they aren’t regulated and it’s not worth it because that’s my entire paycheck. Staying home might be more cost effective.

Our 3 year old is starting 3K in Sept. It's part of the DOE so it's free. Breakfast and lunch are included. Go to https://www.myschools.nyc/ to sign your kid up. If you're in the outer boroughs, there's probably room for your kid to go to 3K. If you're in District 2, SOL. https://www.schools.nyc.gov/enrollment/enroll-grade-by-grade/3k NYC should've done a better job advertising this program. You still need to figure out 2pm aftercare.
