Applying for schools

Has anyone applied for secondary school for their step child but it being from the dads address? Mums agreed for us to do it from our address as we live closer to the better schools but will it mess with anything as he’s down at mums for his current school and drs etc? We have shared care/ court order

If u have shared custody, I don’t think it matters - obviously dependant on how far the distance is between u. If he’s going to school closer to u, then could be a reason to change doctors just incase he needed it x

We had an issue applying for school when she was registered living at nans, and she had to officially move in with us for her to be given a school around our way x

I believe our address was used for our stepdaughter at highschool due to the school she wanted to go to being closer to our house. No issue with that and she got in. She’s not registered here for anything else and I believe her mums address is her primary address.

@Courtney his mum said for ages to change the dr to ours but she never has done despite us mentioning it to her several times and the fact we take him x

@Samantha is the form easy to fill out? I’m hoping the have an option to say what custody but I’ve told my partner to expect a phone call and to say that both him and mum decided to apply from our address due to catchment area x

@Courtney tbh whatever school we go for even if it was in mums catchment area it would mean a bus for her and my partner dropping him off or at a later time my SS getting the bus or walking from us x

Ours wasn’t easy because it was across counties and the school move was an in year application, yours might be straightforward as moving at the correct time ie. Secondary. Xx
