To those dealing with health concerns with the baby

Any mothers dealing with health concerns with the baby? If so, how are you doing? How are you handling things? I just wanted to make a safe space for those that are.

We’re dealing with ‘maybes’ at the moment. We’ve been referred to cardiology for an echo to check a suspected hole in babies heart and we’ll be back for an ultrasound in 4 weeks to check babies kidneys as both were slightly dilated. It was good to hear doctor talk through the ‘what ifs’ of these situations, thankfully outcomes tend to be positive, but I would rather be in a position to not have to worry about them at all 😔

@Catherine did they see this all during the anatomy scan? Hang in there mama 🩷

@Sarah Jean they did! I’m thankful it has been flagged so early, that is one silver lining!

@Catherine I hope everything goes well. How are you handling things

I was told after my blood work results came back that I’m a carrier for cystic fibrosis ☹️. They now recommend my husband get blood work done to see if baby boy is more at risk. Just constant worrying at the moment

@Melanie I’m actually doing better now than I was straight after the appointment. Definitely feel like I’m at a ‘don’t panic about it until we have more answers’ stage now which feels good!

@Catherine we've got suspected hole in her heart too! They've said it's likely to close on its own so we shouldn't be worried, but they've not given any indication what it would mean if it doesn't resolve itself. We're waiting another scan in 4 weeks to check progress, but yep it's not a fun position to be in while waiting, even if the outcomes are generally okay!

@Nae I hope that things are looking better by the time you get to that next appointment in 4 weeks. We’re going to cardiology on Wednesday to get a clearer image to help tell whether there really is a hole there or not. Hoping for some positive news!
