Signs of miscarriage

What symptoms did you experience during your early miscarriage? Backstory: I ovulated on 15th and had my first positive test on 26th (11dpo) and on 27th I took a digital test which said 1-2wks. The digital test hasn’t progressed to 2-3 and the test lines aren’t getting any darker (or lighter) however I experienced spotting yesterday which was light pink in colour then went more red in the evening. I’m fearful this is an early miscarriage as the digital isn’t progressing and I’ve lost pregnancy symptoms such as tender breast. Shortly after ovulated, my boobs were killlling and now they’re not tender in the slightest. Back backstory: in my first pregnancy the digital test went from 1-2, 2-3 then 3+ in just 7 days? I also bled for over a week but continued to have a healthy pregnancy

I think you should go for the blood test to be honest. The symptoms you are experiencing can be related to miscarriage or not. I had lots of cramps and then bleeding after a week. But the blood test confirmed it at the end.

I'm having the same, I haven't had red blood but brown but I am on progesterone and think it's masking the miscarriage. I'm going to the hospital this morning for bloods and back Monday to confirm my hcg.

@Taraneh is that something the early pregnancy unit can do since it’s the weekend and my doctors are closed? According to my flo app I’m only 4wks +1 so I thought it would be too early for any healthcare to intervene

@Cazz how many weeks are you?

I'd contact epu unit or midwives to refer you to epu

@Anna. 4 week's 5 days x

@Cazz oh okay, I assumed the epu wouldn’t do anything this early. I hope everything goes okay 🤞

They cant do a scan till 6 weeks but can do bloods to confirm if hcg is lowering which is then a sign of a loss.

If you only got 1-2 4 days ago then it’s no concern that it wouldn’t change to 2-3 yet. Your previous testing that done that much in 7 days is bizzare I can only think the first and last tests were caught just at the right exact moment. Your bleeding sounds a little like implantation bleeding. How red did it go though and what’s the flow of it like? I wouldn’t use darkness of lines as any indication of a loss unless they went very light. I would wait it out over the next few days if I was you and see how the bleeding goes. Digital tests haven’t got the most reliable reputation on here in regards to weeks xx

@Hayley thank you so much, your reply has eased my nerves a little. I suffered with hyperemesis in my first pregnancy and I believe that can cause high levels of hcg so that’s probs why my digital tests progressed so quickly. The flow is light spotting but only when I wipe after a wee. It’s also not consistent, it happened twice yday and so far once today. I’ve asked my partner to hide the pregnancy tests so I can’t test for a few days 😅

@Anna. Haha testing is a dangerous and expensive game. It definitely sounds more like implanting. Mine came in almost a small gush of red then went to spotting same as yourself lasted no more than 2 days and that was it. My sister had bleeding a bit more for a week then it went away. I was worried at first because a lot of people say you can’t get a positive test before an implantation bleed but clear blue confirm it is possible xx

I was getting super faint tests that hardly progressed . Started having light pink spotting . But that day got a positive digital . Spotting stopped but tests weren’t getting darker . Then I started feeling really bad had a headache all day, back pain, no appetite , super tired . Then the next day I felt completely fine and bleeding got heavier with clots .

@Grace how long did you spot for before the heavy bleed?

I don’t know much about digital tests but regular tests not getting darker and bleeding turning red is likely not a good sign. I’ve had two early miscarriages at 6 weeks 5 days both times. I would try to make an apt to have blood draw and then repeat blood 48 hours after that. You can also wait it out and see if the bleeding stops or gets heavier. If your bleeding picks up and starts to turn brown and has clots, it’s likely an early miscarriage. Fingers crossed you get some answers

@Stephanie I’ve only lightly spotted once today and once yday so it’s not getting any worse but it’s still worrying. I’m gonna try and book an appointment tomorrow when my doctors open. I’m sorry to hear about your losses x

@Stephanie did you have any cramps at the time?

@Anna. My first miscarriage was a missed miscarriage and I had no idea. I went in and saw a heartbeat, 2 weeks later, no more heartbeat and I still had all my symptoms. Mentally that one screwed me up. My second miscarriage was way different. I didn’t spot but my ultrasound looked suspicious and my doctor recommended she check my HCG. It was low for my gestational age. Then two days later repeat and the numbers went down by like 100. Then that night I started cramping lightly and spotting watery pink. Then a couple days later it turned brown but almost coffee ground looking. And then all the way red a couple days after that. Once I passed the sack, I felt much better. Cramping stopped and the bleeding did too

@Stephanie I’m so sorry to hear. I’m experiencing something similar atm, it was pink then went to a light brown and now it’s super dark brown. I went to the doctor this morning and they said they don’t need hcg blood tests so rang the epu who said they don’t see anyone under 6wks so for now it’s just waiting game to see if the bleeding continues, progresses or stops. My spotting isn’t continuous like I’ll only see it 1-2 times a day but because it’s getting darker I’m just preparing for the worst

@Anna. Dark is usually only concerning if it’s red. Brown blood is the best as it’s old blood that’s how my implant bleed ended. I’ve also had a SCH which was a bit heavier bleeding but again ended in brown. Have you thought on retrying a digital test today or tomorrow to see if the weeks progressed? Xx

@Hayley I’m 100% miscarrying unfortunately. This afternoon I started to cramp and had a heavy period like flow which has continued

@Anna. Awk I’m really sorry to hear this. Sending you lots of love to get through this time xx
