I haven't started testing yet, I picked the kit up today to test from tomorrow for a week, but when she showed me how to do it that's when it showed up really low if that makes sense? The midwife said to continue eating a normal diet as I would and not change anything whilst testing, but the levels she said seem to be the same as yours xx
Oh right okay, did you do much walking or anything since your last meal? That can lower blood sugar as well. I don’t have to walk far or move too much really for my levels to start dropping. And yes that makes sense, keep to your usual diet, just make sure that you are having 3 meals a day… that’s the bit I struggle with especially at this stage of pregnancy because I have to eat for the sake of eating rather than when I’m hungry xx
Hang in there! My levels are also really low too and apparently I have it… When they’re low it’s all about getting them higher with diet control. I woke up at 2am SO hungry! I suppose I’d rather eat than have to restrict food so this end of the scale does have a positive.
I have gestational diabetes. Have you been testing before or after meals? What kind of readings have you been getting? My fasting levels have to be below 5.3 and 1hour after meals need to be between 4 and 7.8 but by the sounds of it (from the gestational diabetes uk facebook support group) other trusts have different levels. Maybe if your levels are too low then you could be spike crashing or not eating enough carbs. My trust has said a quarter of your plate should be protein, a quarter carbs and half veg/salad. Oh and I have to scrutinize everything I’m eating through the traffic light system. So I can’t have anything above 5g of sugar in things. I’ve been diagnosed since 28 weeks so I’ve had a bit of trial and error now and it’s opened my eyes about food and what’s in what. Feel free to ask any questions because I know how daunting it is!xx
