Free childcare hours

Is there any progress on us getting 15 hours free childcare like the rest of the uk from 9 months?

I’m wondering this as well. My LB goes in 2 days and if we had some funded hours like down south, it would make it so much more manageable x

There’s a petition for it to be raised in the Scottish parliament, it was posted in this channel yesterday. Although I’m not very optimistic as the Scottish Gov are looking to cut services to save money so o doubt they’ll give it to us. But it doesn’t hurt to ask them to discuss it

Crazy when we pay higher tax than England and Wales!

I would not count on this as Scotland had to make cuts so no money

I just came across this petition to the Scottish government to expand childcare funding for under 3s like they have in England… please can everyone sign and share so this can be discussed in parliament https://petitions.parliament.scot/petitions/PE2111?fbclid=IwZXh0bgNhZW0CMTEAAR31U5IHcK1DlCMnL0hQqLwF9zBUFrKiVRpv77l8RY0k4Dw-2HlMyIhd34g_aem_V1g5snWZiI0PLIVaxbHiuw

@Maeve I’ve signed the petition but whoever has made it has worded it wrong. Might be a bit pedantic of me but Scotland does have the funding … Westminster increased Barnett consequential in January so they could role it out in Scotland but the Scottish government have been over spending massively in terms of welfare so they have chosen to spend this money elsewhere. I know on the grand scheme of things in terms of support for the petition doesn’t really matter, but the Scottish elections are coming up in the next few years so it’s important people know this was an active choice from the SNP to not spend the money on this to help working families x
