Nursery questions and funding

I’m currently in the process of securing a nursery however I’m trying to do my due diligence. Which questions should I ask? There may be some that I have forgotten, any help would be appreciated. Also is there any other financial help apart from government funding and child benefit? TIA x

Someone made a similar post a few months ago & I made a note of the most useful ones: [ ] How long the waiting list is [ ] What do your fees include? [ ] Are all staff first aid trained? [ ] What happens if my child has an injury whilst in your care? [ ] What holidays are the nursery closed & do we still pay for those days? [ ] Latest ofsted report & what was the grading? [ ] Is there cctv on the premise? & if an incident happens & need proof, can I view them? [ ] Staff turnover [ ] Ratio of children to staff [ ] Daily menu [ ] Holiday policy [ ] How do you keep parents informed of their child's progress? [ ] Ask local Facebook groups about nursery - their reviews [ ] Will my child have a key person & how many children will they have? [ ] What activities do you provide? [ ] How do you support children's learning & development? [ ] How do you manage children's behaviour? [ ] Do you take them on small trips around the community? Hope that helps😊✨

That’s amazing! Thank you so much 😊

Child free tax care, you pay and they top it up by 20% Also ask if they stretch the funding throughout the year? How old is child? If child is eligible for 15 hours they may stretch it to 11 and if it’s 30 hours they may stretch to 22 hours to cover half terms. Ask if they charge a supplement fee, this could be for snacks etc. Generally they should cover most on ur visit without u asking, they should give u a parent pack with info such as menu etc. Also if they charge a reg fee and if this is taken off ur first months bill. Most nursery bills are paid in Lew. One month ahead x

No problem 😊✨

Thanks Courtney!
