Reasonable adjustments

Hello I work in the NHS and have been in the same role since 2016. I have ME/Chronic Fatigue due to glandular fever and then COVID, and occupational health have advised WFH with one day in the office, however even though I WFH primarily they have refused and said I must still come into the office three days a week to show my face. I’ve explained how this has a negative impact on my health, I have also provided a fit note that also requests WFH, but they again refused this. I’m not sure where I stand now? Or what I should do next?

That’s absolutely disgusting, they bang on about being fair, equitable and not discriminating etc but the NHS do not practice what they preach at all. I have long term health conditions too and on my OH report it was recommended that I only have occasional visits to the office when absolutely necessary but they have also decided to ignore that. My manager made it clear that what they put in the report are only recommendations and they don’t have to follow them. The NHS put people into management jobs with no experience or people skills at all and that little bit of power they get given goes to their head. I’m sorry to say but it’s very rare to come across someone senior that actually genuinely cares for the health and well being of their staff. These people think they own the nhs when they don’t. My situation got quite bad and I have now been signed off with work related stress. I have also decided to take out a grievance against my manager. Speak to the union for advice if a member

@Meena thank you, my GP has also sent me a fit note with reasonable adjustments being working from home, which they have decided to ignore, and he said he is following the policies, which isn’t helpful. He said he is getting the info from HR and his manager but that doesn’t help. Just feel fed up and feeling like I’m being judged for having a disability.

That’s exactly what my manager said to me, that it wasn’t her and that she was getting the information from her manager. Basically, she’s trying to shift the blame. It’s ridiculous. Perhaps take this matter further…

@Meena I spoke to the HR Team for the hospital and they are investigating as the info he is giving is incorrect
