In need of some advice - Mental health 🫶🏼

Lately I have felt like ‘ I am stuck in a rut ‘ - I’m a single mom to my beautiful 2 girls and they are my absolute world 🩷 However mentally I feel so low, drained, exhausted, fed up, bored, lonely.. the list goes on. I am really desperate for some advice on how to get myself out of this rut. I don’t like feeling this way and I don’t want it affect my girls or the way I parent. Any help would be appreciated 🥲🫶🏼

As a mum in a similar situation, you have to spend time on you. Be content in your own company, by doing what you enjoy. You might need to work out what that is again. I've been feeling so low this week, my teen doesn't want to do anything with me so today I've come out with a picnic blanket on my own to enjoy a public swing band. First time in forever. I'm learning I can't rely on others for my own happiness! Here if you want to chat x

@Kat - Sorry to hear your feeling it too! Problem is, I can’t take a break from being a mom as my girls don’t see their dads! So I live & breathe doing everything for them! Nursery/school runs, swimming lessons, dance lessons, dance festivals; the list goes on! And of course everything in between - cooking, cleaning, bathing them, sort times and home work. I don’t have time for me x

Hey sorry to hear this, here with you, so many mothers feel this way, losing their identity and life of their own after kids, you are not alone and will get through it. As a mother you can’t pour from an empty cup so it’s important you make time for yourself. Easier said than done I know but do make it a priority. Look at your schedule and see where you can put something in. Or possibly look into a childminder. In that time do a hobby, spa day, meet with friends, or Netflix n chill with your fav foods. The reset will do wonders and recharge you for your kids

@CiCi - I don’t physically have any time to make time for me. My eldest is in primary school and my youngest goes to nursery; same hours - 9-3:30, I also work these hours. Then as I said above it’s after school activities most days! 🤯😰 Life is just so crazy and so busy 😕 xx

The only person who can make you happy is you my lovely. I haven't got there yet. What about once they're in bed? You could try getting a sitter to be there and you can go to the gym? Or do exercise with them? Run with the push chair and bigger one on the scooter? You can do it x

How about time in the morning before they wake up or as Kat says once they are in bed you stay up even for just an hour, it’ll make a world of difference. Just finding pockets of time where you can. E.g my 3 month old woke up for a feed at 3am today and I couldn’t get back to sleep so I thought right, I’ll use this opportunity for me time. Made a cup of tea, biscuits and put on Eastenders. It was bliss lol. If your two can play together whilst you sit for a moment also. I’m currently typing this whilst my 7 yo is entertaining my 3 month old in another room. Also could your oldest go to after school club once a day and on that day you extend the nursery time so you are picking them both up around 6pm. Gives you an extra 3 hours for yourself

Cici I like those ideas, especially getting up an hour before them. It's nice when you have the house to yourself but know everyone is safe but you can have you time.

@Kat - My 3 year doesn’t go in a pushchair anymore 🙊 I also wouldn’t trust a sitter with my girls, I’m just abit weird like that 😂 Monday to Friday we have such a routine with school, nursery and activities I wouldn’t through a sitter into it x

@CiCi - My eldest will sometimes play with her little sister, which is nice, but it doesn’t last long enough! I think mentally I have hit a wall where I will make excuses up for not making time for me. But it’s hard when some mornings they’re awake before me and at bedtime they don’t go until I do. It’s just hard! 😭
