Advise on nursery.

We’ve just booked our first show around at a nursery for when I go back to work in Feb, has anyone got any advice on how to make it easier leaving baby with someone else? I’m so nervous and anxious even though we’ve still got 6months to go😩

How old will your little one be when they start? Xx

@Chloé Marie he will be 11months xx

Most nursery settings do settling in days. I was allowed to stay for these and then let her do one on her own which was as much for me as it was for her! It's tough but this definitely helped!❤️ Xx

Mine has been at childminders for few months now since she was 8months old. I spend countless hours worrying about this, feeling very sad and guilty, not sleeping etc - quite far in advance (like you) and I wish I didn’t. It was ok and she now likes going there. It will take time to get used to it - probably more for you tbh. My advice is if you can afford send your baby earlier so you can do prolonged settling in. Our settling in was 4 days long and then after that for 2 weeks we were picking her up gradually later. I think it would’ve been a bigger shock to her if we just left her there suddenly for whole days. When you are at home you will also have an option to pick baby up in case there was sickness or upset x

@Alison that’s what I’m really hoping for, my list of questions for them in endless already😅 xxx

@Kasia it’s just scary thinking somebody else, that I don’t actually know will be looking after my baby🫠 I’ve already got SO many questions written down in my notes that I’m going to ask them when we go for the show around😅 xxx

@Georgia-Mae I know.. it’s terrifying- I literally couldn’t sleep for weeks before. But these people are professionals, find someone you like and you will be much calmer.

Barlborough Hall School nursery is good and do swimming from 3 years old. Also Home Nursery good too also at Barlborough run by Tony Westherstone x
