Invoice for nursery when she has started

I’ve just got an invoice for nursery for 2nd September until 27th September how ever my daughter doesn’t start nursery until the start of October. I’m confused as to why I have to pay a month beforehand for time that she isn’t there.

Our little girl starts on the 10th September but the term starts 2nd September so we have to pay from then too!

You pay a month in advance, like with rent. When she leaves you won't have an invoice that last month so it all balances out.

@Caroline okay great thank you

Is it for the settling in sessions maybe?

Do they have her correct start date? My eldest is starting nursery at the beginning of September and we received her invoice which had to be paid by 24th August. Paying now for October doesn’t seem right to me, but I guess everywhere is different.

@Sophie in total she is only doing 5 hours of settling in. First day is an hour and the other two are 2 hours and that’s the last week of September as she is meant to start the first week of October

@Nikki-Lee I’m not entirely sure, I did call up and ask to change her start date so maybe they do have the wrong start date. But I thought they would have updated it on their system

I woul Query, because the dates are on there which doesn't make sense to me. We pay ours in advance but the invoice is always for the dates covered, not the previous month. So we paid in July for August but the invoice stated dates like "August 1st-31st" so I would 100% double check!

I don’t think I agree. You pay for services rendered. If she didn’t attend 9/2 to 9/27, talk to the facility about why you received an invoice.

My little got starts nursery next month and we had his invoice in August, you pay in advance.

Reading your most recent comment. I would call them and check they haven't mistaken her start date. Because you should pay in September for October but only by a few days and the invoice should state the dates in October not the dates in September. So you pay the October Invoice in September.

We pay a month in advance but as someone else said the dates on the invoice are for the month we're paying for so I'd definitely check x

@Bethan that’s what I was thinking, my boyfriend is going to call them up as he said he won’t pay for the hours if she doesn’t start until October

Paying a month in advance doesn’t mean you pay at the beginning of September for October. Your first invoice should be end of September to pay for the month of October x

We had to pay by 1st August for September's days xx
