@Anna thankypu so so much for this comment! I can’t tell you enough how reassuring it is for someone to understand!! ❤️☺️
My son who is now 20 years old, didn't start talking until 3 1/2. He said 3 words until 3 1/2. Now he talks my ears off. Don't worry, he will talk. Eventually he won't stop talking and you wish that he would. Lol. He's on track. Enjoy the silence. I have 2 boys and they talk constantly, all day long. Sometimes I need a break from all their talking. Lol My boys are 20 and 12. Your little boy is doing great. If he is repeating the words that you say, that's awesome. You're doing great!!
@Anne thankyou so much 😁😁I really appreciate this it’s so reassuring especially since I have no one to ask about it!! I will make the most of the silence, however the amount he babbles its never quiet anyway lol! Thanks so much xx
Speech therapy helped with my boys. My oldest is going to be 6 in a few days, he didn't start talking till he was right around 4 and then he really started talking and continuing to get better with his words and sentences. My 2nd is in speech therapy and my youngest is on the wait list and they are 4 and 3. They all learn at their own pace. Every child is different. You're doing great and keep doing what you're doing 😊❤️
@Hannah thankypu so much!! It’s so important to remember they are all different, it’s just hard in the moment! My health visitor has said she’s going to come and assess him and go from there! I’m not sure really what happens but hopefully she can give me reassurance on what to do next!! Xx
I understand how hard it is. I'm my own worst critic when it comes to my kids and the mom guilt doesn't help either. You're doing all the right steps 😊 he will be talking before you know it and won't stop trust me 😂 my oldest now talks my ears off all day lol
Your Dr should be able yo tell you approximately how many words he should say by what exact age and let you know what to do if he's not saying as many. I personally had to contact early intervention, which works with children up to age 3. My Don gas improved a lit since working with them. Good luck!
I was indeed in your shoes. If where you live has an Early Intervention program, look into that as well. Where I am, we have Strong Start, which is free. (My son is in that) You are seeking out help, which is the best thing you can do. In the meantime, although it may seem like it's all for nothing, keep modeling what you want to do/say. Kids are sponges, and I was surprised at how much he reained. And when I wanted him to say something, I gave him the word but only had him say the first sylable, which was much easier to start. Also, the use of onomatopoeias counts as well so you can focus on those. Something that gave me some sense of direction was learning about the 11 prelinguistic skills they need to learn before talking. Give yourself some grace and meet your kiddo where they are and enjoy them. He will talk, and probably rigjt before the evaluation, just like mine did.
You are good! Mama, Dada, wow, and uh oh are 4 words! He is on track! Right where he should be language wise. Keep doing what you've been doing. He will pick up a lot more words by the time he turns 2.
