I've only now received the price per hour of my LO new nursery 😱

I am absolutely shocked at how expensive it is and just can't get my head around the fee.. Even with the funded hours there is actually no difference in price and I feel like I am not saving anything. We are actually moving to a new nursery and this new nursery is absolutely expensive (having second thought about it now but have no choice). Even with the expensive fee we also have to provide our won lunch 🤯

How much is it per day ? The funded hours should make a difference to the price per week and also I’ve never heard of having to provide your own lunch - why are you moving ? X

0-2 £11.50 per hour. My LO will be doing 4 full day. So £115 per day. They said I could only use her funded hours for 52 weeks of the year. So she really only gets 1 day free a week. We moved nursery cos we moved house and The old nursery is quite far away. Can't believe with all the fees we have to also bring our own lunch. Our old nursery provided everything 😭

Yes seems really steep given they don’t provide meals ! X

That’s incredibly steep considering they don’t provide meals! I suppose it depends what area you’re in but just for reference I’m in Derbyshire and my LG’s nursery is £67 a day and that includes 3 meals a day plus 2 snacks! X

That's so expensive 😧 our nursery is £7 per hour, without funding we was paying £585.20 for 2 days per week approx 8/9 days per month depending on how it fell and now it's gone down to about £270! And this includes meals/snacks/wipes/nappies! For reference we are in the south east. X

We just moved to Essex and still in so much shock. Really don't know what to do but don't think we will be able to afford this nursery long term. It's not like the nursery is out-standing or special in any way, it is ofsted good. But it is the only one around, not a lot of options for the area.

Where in Essex are you ? I am also in Essex. Ours is £1208 per month for 40 hours per week. That’s before the reductions for the free hours but I’m not sure what it goes down to. All meals and snacks, nappies , wipes are provided

We are within Thurrock. The nursery is 15 minutes walk from the station and the next nursery is 50 minutes walk from the station. We have to consider pick up and drop off also.

Not sure how accessible it is for you but have you looked at surrounding areas like Aveley, chafford hundred, grays etc? Xx

@Dionne the commute is going to be very difficult but we will definitely have to consider looking around now. Wished we knew this earlier.

Have you considered a child minder? That daily fee is extortionate!

I feel so lucky reading these as my son will start nursery in September. 2x days a week using his funded hours and it includes nappies, wipes and food! So my invoice is literally £0.00 I genuinely don't understand how some are so so expensive! x

@Laura this sounds so amazing!!! Will your LO be doing. Two full days?

Yes! 2 days. 8.30-4pm x

@Laura have you checked there are no supplements as funded hours don’t include food etc also if hours are not stretched and you use 15 hours a week it’s only for 38 weeks of the year. Xx

@Laura you are so blessed I am now trying to think of a plan B. When we applied for the nursery the price on the form was not what they are now! Very misleading 😭

That's not fair for them to mislead you, I'd show them the form and say something x

They basically blamed it all on the funded hours. Doesn't mean you double the price 😫
