Nursery vs Pre-School

I’ve always wanted to send my daughter to a preschool as I’ve heard they are best for preparing your toddler for a school setting and with our babies being the youngest of the school year I’ve always believed I should give her the best chances to succeed BUT the primary schools within our catchment area don’t have preschools so I could try and send her to one in the next town but then she’d be moved from nursery to preschool then to a different primary school ALSO me and my husband work the standard 9-5 jobs and when she goes to school I’ll be using breakfast and after school clubs the days I’m in work so part of me doesn’t want to start all that a year earlier than necessary. What’s your opinion on keeping your toddlers in nursery or moving them to a pre-school?

I will have to keep my boy in nursery as our preschool is 9-2.30 and I work 8-4.30 so that would never work x

Same as above! I have to keep my daughter in nursery as I work 8:30-4:30 in the next town and pre school is only 9-2:30 x

Same as above, it's just not practical for us as the timings don't align. I have thought about sending my daughter on my days off as I work part time but then feel bad for being at home and not looking after her and it would mean going to a pre-school and nursery so not sure if that's too much (guessing the structure of the days are quite different) still thinking about it but as things stand its looking like pre-school is unlikely.

My oldest is early June, he stayed at private nursery right up until he started reception. I work 12 hour shifts and dad works 9-5. He had no problems fitting in and soon made new friends. Do what works for your family

Same as other above - pre school hours aren’t practical for us around work schedules. And similar to you, our catchment primary school doesn’t have an attached or feeder pre school so I personally can’t see the benefit of unsettling my daughter from where she is now really settled at nursery purely to send her to a pre school instead x
