How does tax free childcare work?
I feel stupid. I got my code for childminder and have given it to her - now what? how do I use the portal and tax free shopping. I feel so stupid

There’s an area where you can deposit money to pay your childminder. Is that how we pay them?
Yes! So say your bill is 500. You would pay 400 into the account (as that is 500- 20%). A few hours later you will see tbe government has added their own payment which is the other 20% of the bill (so in this case £100) then you send the full amount (£500) to your provider from your childcare account. You can search for the childcare and add them as a recipient on the childcare account so you click pay provider next to their name whenever you need to make a payment

R.e tax free childcare now ur childminder has the code it's up to them to use that to claim the money each month from the government. Your monthly bill will be what you would normally pay minus 20%. You don't need to do anything else moving forward
