First time mom needing support

Hi beautiful mommy’s 🩷. I’m new to the app but today I decided to download the app due to me feeling a little depressed. Being a first time mom Is a little scary especially with me having little support. At times I feel extremely lonely and overwhelmed with guilt because on social media you see all the moms with husband, a beautiful family, a huge support system and here Is me preparing to be a mom to a baby girl and I’m alone majority of the time. I know I have support but sometimes It doesn’t feel like It. I guess It’s the feeling of not wanting to fail. Did any of you ladies feel lonely during your pregnancy? How did you overcome that feeling and feel Inspired again ?

Not sure why this showed up on my feed as I’m UK based and already had my girl. But I was in the similar position as you in my pregnancy I think. (Solo first time mum) Pregnancy is a rollercoaster of emotions thanks to the hormones 😵‍💫 but once you feel her kick, see her move around on your scans, have her in your arms it will help to quash those times of feeling apprehensive, lonely etc. They can still come and go but it all makes sense and worth it when you’ve have those other feelings now and then. I had some hand me down girly baby clothes prior to being pregnant with my girl so I’d go through those to cheer me up on my low moments. I’d go and exercise (when the morning sickness let up).. which really helped me mentally. Even if it just meant a brisk half hour walk towards end of pregnancy if that was all I could do by that point. But in second trimester did rejoin a gym for couple months for some low impact exercise and swimming. Totally lifted my mood on the trickier days

Or spend time cooking nice meals if you enjoy that, for yourself (trust me make the most of it while you have the time to do these things 😅). Atleast when your pregnant and baby is demanding food from inside, you have time to spend making it. When she’s out, not so much 😅. Have long baths watching something on your phone/ipad etc. Pamper yourself. Anything to lift your mood like that I found really helped on the days I felt overwhelmed or low / lonely. And don’t be fooled by social media. I didn’t have a nursery set up, or my hospital bag packed or anything social media portrays as I was busy working til the end of pregnancy and then when I had scheduled few weeks off to do that, she came early 🤣. But… you know what. Some of these things that everyone publishes online is so unnecessary. I mean it’s great if you have the time, money and energy for it all but babies just need you.

They don’t need much in the beginning and those Instagram worthy looking nurseries and all that that people portray are wasted for half a year as baby is in with you. My girl still doesn’t have a nursery as we’re moving later this year and she doesn’t know or care for that right now. She has me and a loving catered for environment and daily life which is what matters. You can buy bits as you go if you ever need to (which is what I ended up doing) and even then you’ll realise you still got things that didn’t get used or wasted. There’s so much pressure for everything to be just so, or perfect. But Babies have come into this world and survived just fine on having the basic essentials and a happy mom to love them. Materialistic extras mean nothing at the end of the day. And sometimes life isn’t as rosy as those that portray they have it all, simply don’t. Congrats on your pregnancy. Girls are so fun and she’ll be your new best friend ❤️ I don’t even remember life before mine now 🥹

@Emma you are the sweetest person I’ve ever “met” lol on an app I guess. Thank you for taking the time to write this as I needed to see this too 🩷

@Sarah Jean yes 🧡 her comment was absolutely beautiful and so heart warming. It truly made my day.
