I highly recommend Vienna! I went with our girl when she was 7m old, super walkable city, something like 15 markets, all local made beautiful stuff and it even snowed for us. Magical city and fun with babies x
@Sarah did you fly or train it?
@Cal I not heard of that one, I will have a look
We're doing a coach trip to Bruges Christmas market with an 8mo this year but we're fairly close to Dover/Folkestone so, while it's a long day, it's not that long on the coach compared to further up the country! I've been to Lille Christmas market in the past and it was beautiful with a lovely lit up ferris wheel looking over the market. That was a while ago now though so it may have changed.
I fly, sorry no experience inter railing but it’s one of the best Christmas market cities x
@Sarah I don't mind flying just thought might be good to see couple of countries.
@Carys I heard about Burges. Lille is meant to be beautiful
We did a road trip to Strasbourg with our 6mo old. Drove through France to Strasbourg Christmas markets which were amazing (they call it capital of Christmas) then drove back stopping in Luxembourg City and Belgium, we had a great time and our boy loved all of the lights! X
I interailed in my early 20s and the train system in most places are a lot better than U.K. trains & easier to get around
@Naomi how did you plan it, the seat reservation and extra cost are confusing me.
Oh gosh this was a while ago & I was young and free, with no strict plans. I was backpacking but it was super easy to get around
@Naomi I am someone who love to plan things
Fair enough - I would now with young Children. I was in my early 20s with all the time in the world lol. I think the Interail will be hard to plan the granular tbh
Pre baby I looked at Christmas Markets and noted Strasbourg as one to visit x
