Free childcare

Hello lovely mom, I need a bit advice. My daughter will go to nursery for 2 half days that makes 10.5 hours. I hope this works for us. Anyone in similar situation. My husband will look after her and i will work LTFT. Nursery manager said we don’t have to pay for it. Just dont want to get billed in the end of month.

You will be the 15 hours free childcare if you are both working, however you need to apply for it and get the code if you haven't already, otherwise you won't get the funded hours and will have to pay

If that's whole year and not term time then it works out. It's 15 hours free termtime but you can spread across the year to get around 11 hours a week. You apply for a childcare account online, so long as you and partner both earn 16 hours minimum wage per week and no more than 100k a year each you'll get a code to give your childcare provider. Consider also you get 20% tax relief of up to 500 quid a quarter as well (might help stretch to another half day a week...?).

@Saadia that sounds right! As long as you've applied for the 15 free hours and got your code ☺️. Our nursery said a minimum of 1.5 days so we have to pay for the half day so if they are happy with the 2 half days then great!

@Nia thanku dear

@Jess thanku i have the code

Just to warn there is a backlog of getting your code and account for the government so if you haven't applied for the 15 hours do it now! I was getting g threats from my nursery as I was delaying paying until I got my code lol took a few weeks longer than the usual wait time.
