Parents with no village

How are you? We’ve been finding it really difficult lately. Hot sun, spent with baby alone while one of us works. Clutching at anything we can do with the baby alone but at 13m it feels so limited. The park ✅ walks ✅ paddling pool ✅ but with no friends or family to enjoy these things with it’s just been making us so sad. Not writing this for sympathy either I just hope I’m not truly alone in feeling this lonely as a parent

Where you from?? I’ve been same tbf but whilst it been soo hot I refuse to take him out any where but then guilt sets in cause I’m not doing what most other mums are doing with their 1yr old.. x

So all my family live 400 miles away- when they come up they are a great help but obviously can’t do it often so most of the times it’s just me and my partner. It’s hard work- there’s no rest, it definitely takes it tole on the relationship as you don’t get to have any time without the baby as one of us always has her but equally it’s just our normal now. She’s walking but can’t go to far yet but equally hates being in the pram so it does make being out hard but we just drive to parks to avoid too much time in the pram. (We also live in Scotland and weather has been awful which doesn’t help as she hate being in door but can’t afford to be constantly entertaining her out of the house as it cost a lot of money finding things to do on raining days) x

It is hard but u have to break the day up, we love feeding the ducks, bubbles and I need to rotate the toys so she doesn't get bored x

If you're feeling lonely can you join a class or attend some stay and plays? The stay and plays are usually cheap/free. I know what you mean, when my other half is in the office all day and I don't see another adult I end up feeling really down. So I try to make sure I have stuff in the diary. Did you keep in contact with other mums from your antenatal classes?

You’re not alone .. There are many people who are in same position and some people are single parents also. Join some classes, chat to people on here. FaceTime family.

Thank you everyone, it’s good to know others are feeling the same. I couldn’t physically fit any weekday classes in around working and not aware of any weekend ones that run. Some days just feel extra long I guess that’s a part of the journey x
