You should take folic acid when trying to conceive and throughout pregnancy xx

Yep 👍🏼

Yes just remember if your bmi is over 30 you'll need to ask your GP for the higher dosage of 5mg

Folic acid helps prevent birth defects, it’s nothing to do with fertility I’m afraid, so it won’t help you fall pregnant. If you want to know how to help, read the book ‘It starts with the egg’ by Rebecca Fett. Take pregnancy multi-nutrient / multivitamins, calcium, magnesium, CoQ10, DHA, and NAC (N-Acetyl Cysteine) - I was taking all of these and it worked for me. You’ll find more info in the book, or Google them individually, just type i.e. “fertility and calcium”.

Folic acid doesn't help you conceive. It is vital to a developing embryo and has been proven to help prevent Spina bifida

Thank you ladies!

Ive read about how its Folate we need to have not folic acid

@Stace only if you are unable to process folic acid due a gene mutation

@Charley interested to where you have read that? as its not what i have read multiple times

@Stace https://www.zitawest.com/blogs/preconception-fertility/why-should-i-take-folate-rather-than-folic-acid?tw_source=google&tw_adid=706816995340&tw_campaign=21502784045&gbraid=0AAAAAD4e9df35Cw4ypiMxrYK57pZX7Q-Y&gclid=Cj0KCQjwq_G1BhCSARIsACc7NxqwT42ehdk4kKdBwdeRSRBEKO4xO37ho4e-pLk0wXL9-MXd8eMoX8UaAmY_EALw_wcB

@Charley is right, but there are also other reasons why we should take Folate instead of Folic acid @Stace , this website explain it all.😊

@Stace it's the MTFH gene, there's information online about it. Not enough studies have been done but basically it decreases your ability to process folic acid, so you need to take methylated folate instead.

I think i still stick to believing Folate is best; especially from that link… Most of what i hear/read talks about how folic acid isnt good or natural and is synthetic and that folate is actually the natural form; which just makes me think the whole form of something is always better and why mess about with synthetic forms and wether we can tolerate them when we can just take the most natural form. I always read that also from people who like to go the natural route/are into natural meds or are natural docs etc.
