Child care

I have been looking for childcare since my second trimester because I was told it was hard to find. I finally got a lead on child care, and it's in somebody's home. What are some questions you wish you would have asked or did ask before you enrolled your child :)

I would ask the following: 1. Do you have first aid/cpr certification? 2. Do you have references? 3. Are you a registered dayhome(might not be applicable for you!)? 4. What does a typical day look like? 5. What kind of activities do you have available? 6. Will any other adults be present? Just a few off the top of my head!

Hey, hope this helps Questions for Childminder: -How much of the day is the TV on? -What do the children watch? -Do you have a particular playgroup you regularly attend? -How often do you do outings? -Do you provide Fruit? -If you are off sick do I still pay in full? -Do you take Annual leave in 2 week blocks? -Do you accept the government free hours (UK) -Do you continue potty training?

Oh dang I’m talking about Indiana

Do you have a good sleeping environment? Do you offer plenty of naps?

Can I see your childcare license? Are you CPR and first aid certified? How many children are in your care? Where will my child sleep and eat? What is your sick policy? What other adults will be in the home?

Do you offer food/snacks or will they need to be provided? Will it just be you? What activities do you do? Do you take the children out? How do you keep track of development? What learning framework do you follow? What happens if you are ill and can't take care of the children? Do you have first aid? What qualifications do you have? Are you registered? How many children will be there? Is there a safe place for naps? Do you take time off and how long in advance will you tell me? Can I visit to get a feel of the place? What safety measures are in place? What are your toileting/changing routines and policies?

Are you first aid certified? Do you have a de-choker? Are there security cams or a way for me to check on my child throughout the day? Does anyone else live in or enter the home while my child will be in your care? And who and why? What access to food and drinks is there? Do you have emergency meds for an allergic reaction if needed? Are you registered with the state? References and reviews? What’s the rule on sick days or any days I have to keep my child home or we go out of town? What happens in a situation where you ever have to cancel care? Do you potty train or reinforce potty training? What are the bathroom/changing rules? What is the daily routine? What educational activities do you do? Do you read daily? Are doors always locked? What is the safety measures for outdoor play? Etc

Thanks everyone for all the questions I appreciate it 💙

I always ask how they put babies to sleep, because I will not leave my baby to cry it out and I also won't use a daycare or childminder who leaves baby to cry it out.
