Preschool Curriculum

Hey y’all, I have a fresh 2 year old and wondered if you had any suggestions for a preschool activity book or curriculum that was chill. I am a SAHM and just tired of waking up each day without a plan. I would love something that gave us a learning goal and ways to play intentionally. When I did a google search, the first to pop up was Playing Preschool 2. If you have any experience with that and liked it, please let me know. 💕

Also following ☺️ thank you!

I haven't even thought about preschool yet. My kid is almost 2 and I'm planning on waiting until 3 or 4 to start Pre-K. I can however recommend a book called the Montessori Toddler it has some great leaning activities and outlines appropriate skills for each age to work on. Found some of my kids favorite activities from that book.

I wouldn’t try to do any sort of curriculum that young. They really just need to be playing. I recommend implementing a general daily schedule/routine. For play ideas you can do puzzles, reading, coloring books, painting, play dough, cleaning (mine loves to wipe things), help you cook, singing songs like ABCs, playing outside, libraries usually have a lot of things to do

Those are great suggestions! Thank you! I think what I struggle with is coming up with ideas to play everyday, ya know? My goal isn’t to have her sitting at the kitchen table reciting the alphabet but playful and practical ways to teach her about life. I just don’t know how to do that on my own.

Play is the best form of learning for a toddler up until the age of 7. As they get older 5-6 you can have them sit and do reading and writing for only 20 mins a day. You don’t need to go crazy. They learn a lot by playing. Reading to them a lot is great too

And yea libraries have a lot for toddlers to do!

For those following, I have been doing more research online and found The Peaceful Press Preschool Program. She made a curriculum that she says is “literature and project based.” It is for ages 2-6 so it can carry you through a lot of years. I definitely can see myself picking and choosing the activities to do and books to read with my toddler from her collection. 👍🏻

@Crystal just go about your day and let her help you. Making breakfast/lunch/dinner, cleaning up, doing laundry, dusting they love to help you do these things and then just let her play with whatever toys she has or go outside and explore whatever. They learn from everything. My girl will just go outside and play in her toy house or dig in the dirt or whatever using her imagination. I’m going to plant my winter garden soon and she’ll help me get it ready and plant the seeds and then water it and she’ll help me harvest when it’s time. She loves her play kitchen and puzzles and books and especially loves coloring and climbing and jumping off things. While she’s playing or helping you just talk to her and tell her what’s going on, what you’re doing and why, what things are and the colors and count whatever you or she is working with. It’s a mindset shift of realizing that little things can be used to teach basic and everyday things

No curriculum at 2. Just learning moter skills, vocabulary, colors, shapes, numbers if interested. Its all play and learn. Puzzles, building blocks. No 2 year old will have the patience for workbooks.

2 year olds don't need a curriculum. They need to play, and read. Find things like puzzles and duplos, do dress up days, have the child help you cook. 2 year olds don't have the attention span for work books. I've homeschooled 3 out of 4 kids so far from the start. And I don't start anything official till they are 5. And that's still early for some kids.
