School intake

She doesn’t NEED to start school until age 5 so if you want to keep her home until you’ve moved hours that’s your choice. But if she’s due to start in the January and you want her to start in the April then that’s also fine X

Hey, if you don’t mind me asking what’s your choice of schools? As my little one will be going to a Welsh school too xx

So they can start preschool the term after they turn 3 but they don't have to. My son is a July baby so he did one full school year in preschool (9-11:30) then started reception. My daughter turns 3 in October so officially she can start preschool in January however I'm not sending her until the September so she just does a full year like my son did. But they don't legally have to start school until the term after they turn 5. Feel free to message me xx

@sophie I'm also from Pontypridd and my little girl (3 in September) will start school in January. I'm hoping she'll go to Ysgol Awel Taf in Rhydyfelin 😊 what about you? 😊

@Lilita hey, yes my little girl is 3 in December. I’m hoping she will go to that school too. Unfortunately I’ve spoken to the headmaster and there isn’t any room for them to start in January or April intake. So she has to start next September as they are full. Im guessing it will be the same as your little one xx

A girl I know asked them regarding her little boy, they explained to her. So I rang my self and then they confirmed . Xx

I did hear that about that Awel Taf too! My best friends little girl is 3 in Jan and won’t start till next sept. We’re looking at two Welsh schools in the llanharan / miskin area we are. We’re living in Ponty at the mo but moving towards llantrisant or llanharan so undecided! @sophie xxx Thanks for all the replies ☺️☺️

Yeah I'm pretty sure they can start the September after. Might be easier for them too as they'll be one of the oldest in their class then with a November birthday. It was a long time ago I started but I had an October birthday and started the September after I turned 3 so I was nearly 4 when I started. They split my year at the time I believe.
